Tara Estates is a residential subdivision in Mobile County, Alabama. It is located north of Airport Boulevard, west of the Mobile Regional Airport and immediately south of Baker High School. It is bounded by (see the plat) Walter Smith Road on the west side, O'Hara Drive on the north side and Twelve Oaks Drive on the east side.
Tara Estates Subdivsion is subject to restrictive covenants. The most important of those covenants is that of USE. Lots in the subdivision are for residential use only. Business use is prohibited.
In 2003, thirty residents of Tara Estates filed a lawsuit against two residents for violating the convenants. One of the defendant residents was operating an auto repair shop, the other was operating a computer sales and service business. In 2004, the first resident moved his auto-repair operations to a location outside the subdivision, and the second resident moved his business and himself out of the subdivision.
